The Basement Corner is Leaking!

A client recently called about water entering the basement, specifically mentioning that the front corner was leaking. He had already received estimates from two other companies.
1) The first estimate suggested digging up the corner of the house and installing a French drain with a gravity feed drain. Note: This is not feasible without a drywell or mechanical discharge. I thought to myself, hmmm.
2) The second estimate proposed using typical DryLok. Note: This doesn't address the cove joint or stop the leakage. Again, I thought, hmmm.
He asked for my opinion, so we arranged a time for me to visit and assess the situation. When I arrived, we examined the problem area. He mentioned it leaked every time it rained. We checked the basement, and indeed, it was only the corner area. Outside, I noticed the downspout was broken at the back, likely due to freezing water. I recommended fixing it to eliminate any malfunctioning parts. He gratefully informed me it had stayed dry since the downspout was repaired. By the way, he also decided to have us install a new tiled shower in the basement.
The moral of the story is that as a professional, it's important to be honest and skilled in problem-solving. This is how I was raised, and it's how H.I.P.E. Inc. operates!
